what i’ve learned thus far about lucy

- she’s easily distracted
- she really really wants to play with the bunny rabbits we encounter
- she always wants to stop at the liquor store we pass on the way to the park.
- she thinks toys are meant to be met with brutal force in order to make them submit. if we could bottle the fervor she goes after stuffed toys, we could solve the energy crisis.
- heck, if we could bottle puppy energy, we’d be set forever.
- she does not like grates in the sidewalk & will avoid them at all costs.
- she does not like to be separated from me.
- she’s super social. loves people & dogs, but cats – well, she’s not so sure about cats.
- she does not like to pee or poop on command. it’s all about her timeline people.
- she’s not so sure of car rides yet.
- she’s about the cutest damn dog ever.
oh, and yea, i realize all my tweets, facebook’s and blog posts are about her lately – i’ll do my best to not let this turn into a dog blog, but she pretty much amazes me right now, so just be patient – it’ll get back to some sort of normalcy soon.

she doesn’t have a name yet, and she hasn’t “moved in” yet, but i’m super excited to introduce you to _____.
here’s what petfinder has to say about my future princess:
____ is fearless and quite a spunky little girl!! She came in to her foster home and pretty much took over like she has been there for years! She has yet to have an accident in the house. She loves to hang out and explore in the big back yard. She is the most friendly little thing and has to say hi and has kisses for everyone. The cat seemed to be invisible for the first day and then just someone to avoid. She loves to play with stuffed animals and play fetch. She is such a sweet, friendly, sassy girl and loves to be close and cuddle.
____ is about 5 months old and about 16 pounds currently.
Since we don’t know for certain what doggy genes are in the dogs make up, we are guessing on breed and can’t accurately predict size when grown.
in talking to the folks at the adoption yesterday, i also know that she came from a pound in kentucky where they had a 99% kill ratio. since this group has started rescuing dogs from that pound, they’re down to 50%.
so sad.
they also think she’s some sort of sheltie-mix. i don’t know about that. when you look at her, you can see long haired dachshund, shepard, rottie. all sorts of things.
i’m curious what you think she looks like. and i’m taking name suggestions too.
oh, and she moves in november 3. yay!

here’s the deal, i know it will get easier (and indeed, i guess it has), but i’m anxious for day that i don’t miss him – that i don’t think of him. that day hasn’t come yet.
i’m not picking at the scab, but i can’t deny the fact i miss him. i’m moving on, true – i just wish i was completely over this.
a month in…
August 21, 2009… and i’m still just left with a ton of questions. all the signs were pointing to something good. then bam, completely sideswiped. i’m mentally ok, no longer depressed – i’m just still confused and sad. it no longer occupies my entire mind…. and it has gotten better, easier… it’s just there was nothing to make me think this is what was going to happen.

killer iphone app
August 19, 2009with props to blogography who posted about this first, i had to share ’shakeitphoto’ – a cool app that turns any picture into a “polaroid-esqu” pic.
i have a couple other photo-editing app’s, and one of ‘em even has a loose-polaroid app (all it does though is put the white boarder around it)… what makes ’shakeitphoto’ so great, is that it really degrades the photo the way an actual polaroid does. the colors are a little more saturated, the lines a little less sharp and the shadows, more pronounced. i love it.

i actually don’t mind the quality of the iphone camera (tho’ a zoom & a flash would be welcome additions) – its a bit like a lomo… and now with shakeitphoto (by the way, you can actually shake the image to make it develop faster – just like a real polaroid), it’s even more fun.
